Tween idol Selena Gomez was in town yesterday promoting her new movie, “Monte Carlo,’’ about a girl who goes to Paris and is mistaken for an heiress. Chatting in a suite at the Four Seasons, the 18-year-old actress professed her love for Boston. “I like the restaurants, they’re all really cute. And how you can walk around and be outside. I don’t get a lot of that in LA,’’ she said. The Disney Channel darling, who’s famously dating Justin Bieber, talked about her boyfriend, but only a little. She ID’d “Up’’ and “Never Let You Go’’ as her favorites among his songs, but she wouldn’t say which she doesn’t like. Although her BFF Taylor Swift — they met almost five years ago backstage at a Jonas Brothers show — is in town for gigs at Gillette Stadium tonight and tomorrow, Selena told us she won’t be there. She does have plans to hang with her “Monte Carlo’’ costar Leighton Meester, who’s in town filming “I Hate You, Dad.’’ Asked about “Monte Carlo,’’ Gomez said she hopes the movie will “inspire [young girls] to travel. It’s always good to get away for a minute and go with your friend. It’s a chance. It’s a growing-up thing.’’ Need a destination? Try the North Shore Mall in Peabody, where Gomez will be at 2:30 today.
